On Tuesday, May 9th, the Minuteman took on Village Christian High School in their third meeting of the year. Maranatha attempts to bounce back from a devastating 3-2 loss. The game concluded in Maranatha rallying with two outs in the seventh inning, anchored by an Eddie Lopez double down the line. It ended in Charles Acker looking at a fastball right down the middle with runners in scoring position. Thursday is also the last game of the regular season with the Minutemen playing for first place in the league. If won, the Minutemen would get a first round buy. Maranatha will enjoy the events of the senior night as they honor six seniors but will remain focused on getting the win.
Thursday night’s game kicked off with the Senior Night event. The seniors had their names called out and took pictures with their parents. They gave them flowers and the dads each threw a pitch to their sons. After that, the Minutemen took the field. Marco Martinez got things started with a home run over the right field wall. Things slowed down for Maranatha as they failed to score any runs the rest of the game. The final score was 5-1 with the boys being forced to watch Village Christian celebrate on their own field. The playoffs begin for the team next week, as their round match will be played either Wednesday or Friday.
