Garden Cafe Review

By Ryan Lam

Garden Cafe has locations in Arcadia, Alhambra, and Rowland Heights. Garden Cafe serves Hong Kong style food which means mostly Chinese Food along with pastas and sandwiches. The price of most dishes are around $7 for quite large portions of food to be served family style. For the health conscious, there are a few options such as salads, vegetable curry, and congee.

The service is less than great with most waiters walking by and being very brief when checking in, but, in my experience, that’s how most Hong Kong style cafes are. They are quick, effective, and want to get you in and out as fast as possible. Also, almost every waiter speaks fluent Mandarin so if you happen to speak Mandarin well enough to order it will expedite the ordering process.

If you are looking for a quick bite to eat between 8AM and 1AM swing by the Arcadia Garden Cafe (850 S Baldwin Ave, Arcadia, CA 91007) the Alhambra location (228 W Valley Blvd #101, Alhambra, CA 91801) between 7AM and 4AM, or the Rowland Heights cafe (18406 Colima Rd H, Rowland Heights, CA 91748) between 8AM and 4AM.

I recommend the Grilled Pork Chop, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Deep Fried Chicken Wing with Spicy Salt (It’s not very spicy, there’s just no great translation from Chinese to English), or the Beef Chow Fun with Dark Soy Sauce. These are personally some of my favorite dishes on the menu.
